Modern Life is War Stuff
July 2006

...then it was off to the modern
life is war practice warehouse
to work on a banner for them. it's
about 12 feet across, 6 feet tall.
this will hang behind them while
they play marshallfest and when
they go out on tours. while i was
there, i got to see the shirts i
designed for them....

here's my favorite...

this is the girl shirt. available in
pink also. i drew this up in my
sketchbook. pirate guns...

so then.... jeff and i got started
on the banner. i had planned to
use an opaque projector and just
shoot some design up there. but
i lost the projector and i had to
draw it all up by hand! i've never
drawn anything that big... and the
letters were a real pain in the ass.

it took me a while to get all the
letters even and exact. the "E's"
were fucking brutal.

fueled by coors light.

we just got the letters done the
first night. we listened to some
good music, enjoyed some brews
and got messy with paint. when
the painting was done for the eve,
i got to jam with john and tyler for
a bit. john has some sweet amps...

next night... we got started again.
but there were rumors of killer
funnel clouds and hail. the sky
looked like a vision of end times.
this sky is absolutely real....

so then we started painting a
snake on that bastard. more
challenge. more messy paint.

snake face.

spray paint fumes were crazy.
i stenciled on some tiger style
stripes after jeff painted on all
the scales. we went thru about
seven cans of spray paint...

i think angie was quite bored.

jeff & tyler.
east LA style, circa 1974.

the end of it.

and then i came home and
hooked up alisha with some
of the fresh gear i scored.

i'm fucking tired. and i can't
get this paint off my hands.
and i have spray paint in my
nostril hairs. and my feet
smell like monkey nuts.

g'nite.
